Neon Series Sample Set

Chronotope’s three most recently released perfumes, from the Neon Series, are vivid soliflores—intense explorations of the extreme olfactory limits of solitary materials. They are:

Janus EdP: a vetiver lover’s vetiver perfume that engages with and displays a wide spectrum of the green beauty’s many contrasting faces—from its grounded, dominant, rooted, woody, dank, wet, and dark angles, to its light, dry, fresh, grassy, aquatic, ozonic, and lifting aspects—all at once. 

Me/dea EdP: if the traditional use of orange blossom is to celebrate new life and new ways of life, such as its starring role in many baby sprays and bridal perfumes, Me/dea instead deploys the material as generals do troops. By zeroing in on, then blowing up, select molecules found in the bloom’s chemical thumbprint, Me/dea amplifies the blossom’s adjacency to scents associated with destruction and war: jet fuel, concrete, rebar, tar, burning tires…and amid all these, a haunting doll’s head accord. This is orange blossom recast as a scent for mourning—and to be a warning.

Caryatis EdP: a stony jasmine sambac perfume named for the six stone architectural columns sculpted to look like women called the Caryatids that have held the roof of the Erechtheion patio atop the Athenian acropolis for millennia. Mineralic without smelling of soil, floral while retaining a rough, sturdy spine, animalic without smelling fecal, and lifting upward with solarity without depending on aldehydes, Caryatis isolates and exposes the six-material house DNA of Chronotope. It is the scent that lies beneath all of the brand’s perfumes.
