Neon Series Sample Set

Chronotope’s two most recently released perfumes, from the Neon Series, are vivid soliflores: intense explorations of the extreme olfactory limits of solitary materials. They are:

Janus EdP: a vetiver lover’s vetiver perfume that engages with and displays a wide spectrum of the green beauty’s many contrasting faces—from its grounded, dominant, rooted, woody, dank, wet, and dark angles, to its light, dry, fresh, grassy, aquatic, ozonic, and lifting aspects—all at once. 

Me/dea EdP: a 180-degree subversion of traditional uses of orange blossom to celebrate new life and new ways of life, such as its starring role in many baby sprays and bridal perfumes, Me/dea instead deploys the material as generals do troops. By zeroing in on, then blowing up, select molecules found in the bloom’s molecular thumbprint, Me/dea exposes orange blossom’s olfactive relation to the scents of materials associated with destruction and war: jet fuel, concrete, rebar, tar, burning tires…and amid all these, a haunting doll’s head accord. This is a work of perfumery that’s also a rebuke—orange blossom recast as a scent for mourning. And to be a warning.
