FORMULA FLIGHT: SPITE EAU DE TOILETTE

Formula Flights are sets of select raw materials straight from Chronotope’s perfumer’s organ diluted to the IFRA-approved levels used in Chronotope’s perfumes. And for each Formula Flight, Chronotope’s founder Carter hosts a group session via Zoom called a Flight Salon for an interactive sniff-and-tell and Q&A of the raw materials during which time customers also find out more about the materials and learn about how they’re used in Chronotope’s perfume. Then, the Formula Flights end with the recreation of an accord from one of Chronotope’s perfumes using the materials.

The Spite EdT Formula Flight includes:

Ethyl Maltol
Orris Butter
Isobutyl Quinoline
Australian Sandalwood
Violet Leaf Absolute
Angelica Root
Geranium Absolute

Each of these seven raw materials will arrive in labeled sample vials containing approximately one half-milliter of isolated material diluted in perfumer's alcohol. You'll also receive small pipettes and access to join a Zoom salon where we'll discuss the materials and recreate the rose that is not a rose (that is not a rose) accord from Spite EdT.

The Salon will occur on Thursday, 21 April, at 19:00 ET.

The Salon is not a lecture or “class session.” Rather, it is a chance for us to have a conversation about how the materials operate as component pieces of the finished perfume and an opportunity for attendee to ask questions about the materials, perfumery more broadly, my own process and ideas regarding sourcing, blending, the industry and more—as well as a time for attendee to acquire new, hands-on knowledge about how perfume is crafted.

All materials in the Formula Flights are diluted between .01% concentration in perfumer's alcohol and 2.5% concentration in perfumer's alcohol. While every one of these concentration levels are IFRA-compliant and skin-safe, it is an inherently different experience engaging with materials in isolation than it is to engage with them in a finished formula.
